This is my first blog in what will be a 52 week project that will follow my journey to prove that one person can make a difference.
I feel that I am being called to this project after a series of realizations that I am losing sleep at night worrying about the world that I have brought my children in to. I hear friends, family and strangers expressing their frustration that needs are not being met in our communities. In my position at a large corporation, I see the grant requests come through on a daily basis and the needs in our community are overwhelming. There are THOUSANDS of non-profits in Sacramento County alone which you have probably never even heard of. No matter how many volunteer activities I participate in, it always leaves me wanting to do more.
I want to be a part of something that creates awareness, fulfills my desire to make a difference, and maybe ignites a fire in others to do the same. I want to go to sleep at night knowing that there are still good people left on this planet and there is hope for the world my children have been given.
