Kicking off the Month of April, I spent this past Saturday with
Sacramento Police Mounted Association at the First Annual - Horse Power Fundraiser BBQ. I feel very priveleged to have spent the day with such a great group of people. The weather was PERFECT. This was a family friendly BBQ, which included a petting zoo, pony rides, horse drawn carriage rides, delicious bbq, the DART team and even cupcakes. Can't wait til next year! Since 1998 Sacramento Police Department has had a full time Mounted Unit. They perform a variety of safety and outreach functions. Horses have always been a large part of life in Sacramento. The Sacramento Police Mounted Association has been established to help preserve this important tool.
